Fonts

Your guideline renders in the brand's real typeface. You either upload your own font files or pick an open family we can host.

Uploading your own fonts

Upload woff2, otf, or ttf files. We serve them as they are, with no conversion pipeline. Keep it to around five weights per role (display and text). That is enough for a real system and keeps the page fast.

Picking an open family

If you do not want to upload files, pick a family from Google Fonts or Fontshare and we load it from their CDN. These are free and safe to use on a public page.

The licensing trap, read this

This is the part people get wrong. A font you bought for print or for a desktop app is often not licensed to be served on a website. Uploading such a file to Vessa does not grant you a web license, and it does not make the use legal.

• A desktop license usually does not cover web embedding. You need a web font license for that.
• The foundry's license, not Vessa, decides whether you may host the file on a public page.
• When in doubt, use an open family (OFL) or buy a web license from the foundry.

You are responsible for the fonts you upload. By uploading a file you confirm you have the right to serve it on the web. This is set out in the terms.

Format notes

• woff2 is the smallest and best for the web. Prefer it when you have the choice.
• otf and ttf work but are larger. They are fine for a few weights.
• If a weight looks wrong, check you uploaded the right file for that weight. We do not synthesize bold or italic.

There is no mono font anywhere in Vessa. Data and labels are set in the brand's own type at small sizes.
